My experience with this surgery is on the whole. Yesterday the appointment for a cortisone injection was extremely good and put me at ease. Thank you
This was our first visit to Maywood. We had been sent over from Westcourt Surgery, Rustington as I needed an urgent appointment for a dressing change. I had a gash wound on my leg that had been caused by a car door a few days previously. The parking was good when we arrived. The downstairs receptionist was very helpful and explained clearly (despite the mask) where we needed to go and where to locate the lift. The receptionist upstairs was equally lovely and kind. She booked me in and said the nurse would be along shortly. The nurse (Sara Petronijevich) came out to get me and I was taken into a large treatment room. Sara proved to be extremely kind and gentle. I was quite nervous about having the wound touched, but Sara was amazing. Although I was in a lot of pain, I actually barely felt her treatment at all. She was happy to take her time to keep the agony at a minimum. Sara was really thorough too, doing a few other checks at the same time. After we were finished the receptionist was kind enough to see us out. All together a very positive experience. Thank you to everyone.
Great care from Angela Woodward the nurse at Maywood Surgery
I am very worried for my future health and care have and have generally lost faith in this surgery. I understand that we have been through a serious pandemic but the abruptness and lack of help if you walk in and need to talk to someone on reception is awful.
I was disappointed yesterday. I went to Maywood surgery on my way from Boots as my son had anaphylaxis but on the way home he started saying he couldn’t breathe through the nose, ,he’s voice was hoarse. I thought let me go to the surgery as it was close than home or hospital, just for him to have some emergency treatment or any sort of help as I was so helpless seeing him struggling with the itching and breathing. Immediately I got in I rang the bell a lady came by the reception which is has a shield. As she was approaching I removed the mask slightly before I could even say a word she went aaah aah aah! Put your mask back. I almost said but your reception has a shield, but was so confused as I had left my son in the car and at that point I realised let me not worst much time. I pulled back the mask and asked if there was any sort of help I could get as my son had eaten some nuts and he had reacted to them but I just need help. I explained I had been to boots to get him piriton but it was getting worse. She said just go to the hospital. I said hospital or I just call the ambulance. She said yes you can call the ambulance. I quickly rushed out. By the my son was just responding in very few sentences. I decided I won’t drive home. I called the ambulance while at the surgery . They came immediately and gave him some emergency intravenous treatment and was taken to the hospital.
This was the worst experience for me. The ambulance crew was equally shocked. They asked if anyone hard come out even just to check what was happening I said no.
Sometimes the behaviours we portray towards people ruins the repetition of the whole setting and just one mistake makes whatever good things the setting has done tarnish the picture of the whole setting.
